(1) 5.0 x 7.0" black and white print capturing the Deadwood Chicago & Northwestern Freight Depot located along lower Main Street (today's Welcome Center). Image captures the two story wood structure with carpenter brackets under the roof overhang. Three prominent signs hang on the side of the building. "Deadwood"; "Northwestern"; and "Railway Express Agency". Weeds are going up and around the tracks and building showing that it wasn't used much. Stamped on the reverse of the photograph reads "Give credit to Centennial Archives Deadwood, S.D. 57732" and "Deadwood Public Library 435 William Street Deadwoo....." Interesting to note: Freight Depot was removed after 1965 according to local newspaper accounts. |
